Ezekiel 14:1-11 Setting up Idols

Thought for the day:” These men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces(Ezekiel 14:3)

Who has not set up idols in their lives, unaware? Who has not been binging on television, shopping, work or money? Who has not made something else their priority instead of God? I know I did those things at some points in my life. The question is, how far gone are we that graced can not catch us?

This passage says that idols of any shape separate us from God, as a “stumbling block”.How can this be removed? How can our hearts, our lives and attention be fully turned towards God and in keeping with him?

Humility and owning up that we put other things as a priority, being intentional in our confession and prayer lives, even among church leaders, that our relationship with God and obeying his teachings take humility and more prayer( and I am afraid that will also mean cutting down on shopping, or tv time, and pondering before talking). To be true homes to God’s presence in us, we must spend time in his presence, praying, worshipping as many times as growth requires, as change requires, especially if an anointing of the Holy Spirit is needed to transform us.

Prayer:”Lord, help me let go of the world’s habits to be a true beacon for you, to be worthy of being one with you. In Jesus’s name. Amen.”
